Custom logo designs - A personal touch

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

Last year I was asked if I could produce a custom logo for a lady who was starting her own business. She was keen to have her logo represent her three Doberman dogs but wanted to work with a professional artist to share her ideas with and bring them to life as a custom design she could use to represent her brand.

I jumped at the chance to start designing something for her. I worked in digital format, and hand drew a few ideas and designs that she could choose from. From there I then finalised the logo and provided high and low resolutions images to use across web and social channels. Having worked in Marketing previously alongside designers, I had experience of formats and what would be needed for digital use.

Following this, I was then asked by another small business owner to develop a logo for her coaching business. They wanted different formats and also banners created for web and social channels, as well as brander stickers to add to business merchandise.

"Ellie and I worked together recently to help me develop a logo that reflects the values and purpose of my business. Her deep expertise in marketing and impressive creative artistic flair, from many years as an artist, provided me with a unique experience. Ellie’s warm and engaging approach teased out all of my requirements and actually improved the end result! The bundle of digital products and formats she provided to cover my website, LinkedIn profile and email footer were delivered within timeframes and Ellie was always responsive, supporting me with technical queries. A great service from a gifted and experienced artist and marketer. I would highly recommend!" Fran Lee-Rogers, Director, Butterfly Development Ltd

Having the experience of the previous projects, I found that what both customers really valued was real person support and the personal and professional touch of an artist, someone they could share their business values and beliefs with, in order to feed that into the design, and present their business as unique and individual as they were as business owners.

I then started to explore what packages I could offer to small businesses, who were looking for an artist to help them develop a logo and brand, and this is what I came up with:

I’ve just completed my third logo and brand design project with a lady who is starting a small Yoga business and who decided on option 3 ‘Go All In’ package.

We initially had a first call to get to know each other, and to discuss the direction for the design and. It was important that the design brought together several elements, her persona together with the values and beliefs she wanted to express through her brand.

After this I then started on some initial designs. I then presented these to her along with an outline of the points to pitch where the design ideas had stemmed from and how they were bringing all the elements together visually. I also explore fonts to complement the design.

We agreed to progress one of the designs and I finalised this with relevant formats for social and web. Additionally, I’ve gone on to produce flyers, social posts and a social plan to help her get started with content to launch her business online.

I feel really positive about this custom service that seems to be evolving, bringing together my creative skills as well as my marketing experience and I’m excited to see where it leads.
